Okay, I guess you really want to get personal
now... My full name is Stijn
Cornelis Maria de Bekker, named after my late grandfather Kees. The 'Maria'
part is a result of being catholic originally... Please call me just
Stijn or Stones as some do, hence the name of the site. The name 'Stijn' seems
to have a meaning: nice to know!
My family is rather big, I am trying to put together a family tree on the
family's internet pages. Check it out if
you like.

I was born on October 20th, 1977 in a town in the south of the Netherlands
called Breda. People have their own dialect
in the south called brabants. Even a special translation page exists, to
translate the "Common Civilized Dutch" language into brabants; very cool!
Although I am biased, Breda is a very nice city. You can go out very good
there; nice bars, restaurants and discos.
The day I was born has not been that special in history.
Especially
year the day was quite boring (apart from a plane crash)...
Well until the moment the rest of the world will get to know me of course ...

I moved to the eastern of the Netherlands, to Enschede to achieve a Master's degree. I
studied Computer Science
at the University of Twente, the
Netherlands. My specialization is in databases and content-based multimedia
retrieval.

In my free time, I like to relax whenever possible; read some books or just
watch television. I don't really have an addiction to special soaps or series;
if the image is changing, it's ok. Besides, every once and a while (well okay...
more while than once), I like to go out and party. It is very nice to have fun
with a couple of friends, have some drinks and enjoy music or dancing.
To compensate the drinks, sporting is good. I like to swim or perform pilates.
One of my passions in sporting is diving. This started late 2003 with my move
to Utrecht. The hobby grew from taking an intro in the swimmingpool with my family
to taking all kinds of PADI courses. Nowadays I'm
a PADI Professional; I'm a PADI divemaster and can assist at diving courses.
